Moneyline

A moneyline bet is the simplest wager in sports betting; pick which team or player will win the game outright, with no point spread involved.

What is a moneyline bet?

A moneyline bet is a wager on which team or player will win a game outright. There is no spread or point handicap; just a binary win/lose outcome.

How to read moneyline odds

  • Negative number (e.g. -180) = the favorite. You must risk $180 to win $100.
  • Positive number (e.g. +150) = the underdog. A $100 bet wins $150.

When to use moneylines

  • Big underdogs in matchups you think can pull an upset; payouts are large.
  • Low-scoring sports like baseball, hockey, and soccer where spreads don’t make sense.
  • Parlays; moneyline picks are easy to combine.
